Freedom Summer 2010 Resources
In June, 1965, hundreds of young people traveled to Mississippi from all over the country to register voters and conduct civil rights trainings.  They were motivated by the knowledge that African American residents of that state were being denied the right to vote as well as enduring many other civil rights violations.

This summer, people of faith and conscience from around the nation are coming to Arizona to stand in solidarity with those who are engaged in the struggle for worker justice and human rights.  Like their predecessors, they will register voters and participate in civil rights trainings. The links on this page are intended to provide background and resources to people who find themselves asking, "What's going on in Arizona?"

This question has been a lot since the passage and signing into law of Arizona's recent legislation, referred to as Senate Bill 1070/House Bill 2162.  Many people earnestly cite "facts" that have no basis in fact and thus perpetuate the misinformation that may lead some to defend legislation that is indefensible.

Know-Your-Rights         Trainings

AIAWJ is taking its worker rights trainings into the community.  These trainings are organized around "a day in the life" of a typical Arizona worker and are led by workers who have experienced what they will be teaching.  If you would like a rights training in your community, call us at 602-254-5452 and we will work with you to schedule one. In the meantime, check out our worker rights resources
